The Government of Pakistan has announced a new increase in petrol and diesel prices for the next fortnight, effective from February 16, 2026.
The decision was made following recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority and is linked to recent changes in global oil prices and fluctuations in the exchange rate.
Under the revised rates, the price of diesel has been raised by Rs 7.32 per litre, moving from Rs 268.38 to Rs 275.70. Petrol has also become more expensive, with an increase of Rs 5 per litre, taking the new price to Rs 258.17.
Officials stated that the adjustment reflects international market trends. However, the sharper rise in diesel prices is expected to put additional pressure on transportation and agricultural costs across the country.
